Who doesn't love Elvis's 70's glasses?

Here's a story from a Memphis fan about those famous specs:

In the summer of 1974, my friend and I found Elvis' glasses in front of the Memphian Theatre. He was there with a date and my friends and I were there looking at a car one of my friends had painted for one of Elvis' bodyguards, which was directly in front of the theatre.

My friend, Donald Ray Moncier, picked up the glasses, after I pointed them out to him. We kept them for a couple of weeks. We returned them, in the hope that Elvis would buy us a Corvette or something. Hey, I was 16 years old! We met Elvis, but never did get a car out of the deal. Darn! Anyway, thought this story would add to your site. Thanks. -- Phil Matthews

Here's a story about a fan's encounter with Elvis in a dark blue velvet suit:

I met Elvis backstage at the Hilton one night and I was wearing a furry llama poncho. Elvis was wearing a dark, blue, velvet suit. Well, he was always generous with a hug and when he pulled me close to him for a photo opportunity, he noticed my poncho fur clinging to his velvet and said, "Hey honey, watch the suit, watch the suit." Everyone in the area laughed and when he and I moved away, the llama fur was a definite problem for the suit. Sorry, Elvis. -- Debbie
